Lucie Silvas Simply Honest

Lucie Silvas Simply Honest imagesLucie Silvas has grown up being wrapped up in music. She started playing the piano when she was only 5, and wrote her very first love song when she was 10. what a talent! But in New Zealand, where she spent her childhood, there wasn’t enough opportunity for her to grow as musician and to have a wonderful music career as well. It was when her family moved back to England that the door to the music industry began to open.

Starway to Music Heaven

When Lucie was in college, her friend introduced Lucie to her stepmom, singer Judy Tzuka. Lucie and Judy soon became friends, and shortly 17-years-old Lucie toured all over the country as Judy’s backing vocal. But the true big step of her career as a singer/songwriter was when became Gary Barlow’s backing vocal. One day, she played him one of her songs, and he was astonished. Through Gary’s manager, her own record deal soon ensued where she had a blast on support slots, writing songs for Macy Gray and M People. Though the contract didn’t work out, this young girl’s mobile phone never stopped ringing. British pop stars like Rachel Stevens, Gareth Gates, LIBERTY X, plus various American pop idols, not to mention top pop writing team Merlin (who wrote for Britney Spears and Dani Minoque), were after her services.

Getting back to her roots

One day, she hung around London’s live music venue “The Kasmir Club, Moved by atmosphere of people performing their own songs, she finally realized that what she was doing then was not actually what she wanted. She’s always wanted to write and perform songs which came out of her heart. As luck would have it, a top Mercury Records executive sa her singer/songwriter talents and offered her a deal to make an album of piano-driven songs from her heart. So, Lucie Silvas is here now with her debut album Breathe in, an album full of love, belief, and friendship: the eternal truths in life. You can find these themes in “What You’re Made Of, “Forget Me Not, “The Game is Won, and of course in “Breathe in (Which is about taking time to appreciated what we’ve got or what’s going on arround us).

Honesty is the best policy

Lucie keeps her songs honest and simple: she believes it is the best way to touch the audiences’s heart. However, she admits that it’s not always easy to come up with such songs. Sometimes words just come out very naturally in a very poetic way, but sometimes she really has to work hard at it. But it’s worth the effort, as she has once ex-claimed, “It’s so amazing when someone come to you and says, “you’ve read my mind, everything you’ve said in the song is exactly what’s happening to me and I feel that I’ve fed you every line,â€Â?
After embracing her dream to be a singer and songwriter, Lucie’s next obsession is to write classical ballads that people will still listen to in the next ten years or more. Is she really that good? Well, you can only answer that after you have gotten a hold of her album.
