These Written Words about Natasha Bedingfield

Natasha BedingfieldIn one year, the music industry released over 300-debut female artist, but only a few of them will make their way to the top. Natasha Bedingfield is one of the select few, the ones singled out to be stars.

The Trio

With her big brother Daniel and their youngest sister Nikola, Natasha began singing as a toddler at her London home. The trio formed an R&B group together called DNA Algorithm and slogged their way round talent, thought Daniel and I entered a competition when I was 14 and he was 16. We won it which proved to us that people would be interest is us.”

The Duo

Natasha, a former psychology student, spoke about her debut album Unwritten, “This isn’t an overnight success and it’s not like I’m suddenly winning the lottery. It’s been a lot of hard work on a student budgets. There’s been a lot of sacrifice and I have lived on baked beans. I was at university and trying to do music at the same time. Then I realize, I couldn’t do both and switched to music. Everyone has that point in their life where there are many different directions in which they can go. I had a lot of decisions to make, but this is what I have always wanted to do.”

Going Solo

Despite Daniel’s connections and the undeniable resemblance her music share with his, Natasha has been determined to forge her solo career without his help. She enthused, “As an older brother, he has known it is important for me to make my own way. He has not been involved in my album but he has been incredibly supportive. He’s always telling people his sister has a record coming out and that I’m fantastic. Daniel loves my album and calls me now and again and sings the songs to me. He has helped me to learn how the music industry works.”

As the song writer, composer, and arranger, Natasha’s debut album, Unwritten, is a powerful affirmation. This album draws on a range of experiences and passion which are personnel to her from trying to figure out the dating game (”Frogs And Princes“), and dealing with the trust issues of falling in love (”I Bruise Easily”) to learning how to carpe diem (”If You’re Gonna Jump”) and develop the confidence to take life (”Unwritten”), all written with a refreshing mixture of sass and intelligence. The music has many elements that make is a memorable debut, including pop, soul, rock, classic R&B, hip-hop, rap, and dance. Natasha mixed all these nuances into the songs on this album to create something different from other typical pop album. Musically the album is inspired by a wide range of influences and styles, that show in the glam rock of “Silent Movie,” through the muscular funk of “Single,” to the orchestral majesty of “Wild Horses.” The result is an album packed with amazing songs.

The Single
Natasha first single, simply called “Single” became the hottest track in the United Kingdom a view years ago. The single is about… You got it! Being Single!
“I’m not saying I wouldn’t fall in love,” She explained, but for now I am enjoying being single. Right now, my focus is on my music. Being single has allowed me the freedom to do that. There are things you can do when you are single and I’m enjoying this time in my life. Throughout the whole making of the album I’ve been single and enjoying it. It’s been quite fun actually.”
